We’ve made it around most of the roundabout. Someone was looking. Maybe they were looking for themselves. Maybe a friend was looking for them.
Eventually, through some combination of people, directories, social media, websites, events, articles and assorted twists and turns, they found you. Success!
Well… Almost. There’s still one rather important stretch of road between “I found you” and “I’m ready. How do I sign up?” And this part of the referral journey is much more within your control.

This weekend, I saw a post on Facebook. A friend was looking for help for someone else dealing with what was described as “diagnosis here.” Of course, my first instinct was to help. Then came the questions.
How old is this person? Male, female or non-binary? Is this self-diagnosis or from a medical doctor? If so, what is it? Are they ambulatory? Can they leave the house? Would an online service be more appropriate? Are they looking for someone who could come to them?
There simply wasn’t enough information for me to say, “You should call this person.” And maybe that was a good thing.
Instead, I sent a Holistix Online directory search to the friend who had made the post. That gave the person looking for help access to possibilities they could explore for themselves. And it got me thinking about how referrals really happen.
Picture this. You get a text from a client. "Hey, did you send me an email about updating my website?"
You didn't send anything.
That's exactly what happened to a web designer whose clients were targeted by a sophisticated scam. Someone created a fake email address designed to look like hers. They found their clients by searching the internet. Then they sent those clients professional-looking emails, pretending to be her, offering website services. The payment link would have stolen credit card numbers and installed malware on their computers.
You want a Wikipedia page because credibility matters. A Wikipedia listing signals legitimacy. It shows public recognition. Yet most business pages get rejected. Many disappear within days. The process is stricter than most expect.

Did you know that there are 8 billion people living on earth today?
In this crazy wild world, there are days when it is a trick to stay inspired. Whether it's my health goals, my business/budget goals, or something else that is on my mind (worldwide conditions, anyone?), there are just times when I want a reminder that there is a way to have it all be good for everyone. 
I suppose I shouldn't be surprised about this diagnosis. It's one my mother received about 20 years ago when she was my age now. At the beginning of 2022, a lump was found and tested. Since then, I've had one surgery and am looking at one more.
